In memory of a nephew of outstanding personal characteristics Nigel Colin Fanfair, affectionally known as "Joe", first saw light on March 26th, 1964 in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. He began his education at Bedford Methodist School in the 1970's. Because of the vision of his loving mother, Nigel and his family migrated to the United States of America in February 1978, where he continued his education at Junior High School 324. Subsequently, Nigel attended Wingate High School until his graduation in 1982. In 1990, Nigel received his BA Degree in Sociology from Howard University, and four years later his Master of Arts Degree from the same University. Nigel took a breather from studies, but in 1998 registered himself to do the Phd and began the course of study. Nigel loved sports, more particularly soccer at which he was good. One of his older brothers was amused at Nigel's early attempts at the game when he was just a kid and lacking in motor skills, but later in life, the same brother was in awe at the skill and dexterity of Nigel when he saw him play in an important game. Nigel did not only play soccer. He did coaching for the Little League. In 1998, he received a Volunteer of the Year award from the Riverdale Boys and Girls Club in appreciation of his outstanding efforts of working with the youths of his community. One of the actions of Nigel of which his mother often commented was his sending her 'blank cheques' which bore his signature, with a note to her that she could fill in the amount she desired. She would always call him first before she did fill in the amount. Nigel leaves to mourn his mother Eunice Charles whom he loved dearly, his sisters Nanda and Sharon, and his brothers Baba, Brian, Courtney, Patrick, Handel and Chubby, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Nigel was a beacon which the entire family will greatly miss. Nigel was interred at the Cypress Hills Cemetery on Saturday May 22, 1999 in Brooklyn, New York.
