York University's emblem
We all loved our school's emblems and the message they conveyed to us during our years of attendance, and even as we branched out into the world to seek our fortunes and to chart our lives, many a time that motto came to mind and we quietly repeat it to ourselves in some assuring manner.

Candy will probably be no exception.

The years of long nights and anxious moments at assignments and tests and finally exams are forever embedded in mind and quiet reflection on the motto reassures us that our efforts were not all in vain.

Tentanda via ..... Latin as most mottos are.
... "the way must be tried"....

I started this web page as if it was me writing it, but I have had to get some input from Candy herself, so it is a joint effort by the two of us even though Candy does not know anything about creating web pages !

The three pictures above show some delicate poses and had much preparation in their making, for professional photographers recognize the importance of making excellent pictures to mark memorable occasions. I tell you ..... Candy was most anxious to have good pictures and was very pleased with the work of the photographer. Hmnn .... hmnn.... Dad paid the bill ... you dads know how it is with these milestones.

"Drink deep .......... yes indeed, Candy has drunk deep of the work and knowledge of university life. That she applied herself vigourously and assiduously evidenced themselves in her grades. From the start she decided that hers would be an Honours Program.
I full remember that first day with her at the admissions office when she was advised by the counsellor to do "Beginner's French" in her First Year as this was really a refresher of her High School French studies. To her that was infradig. She intended to do an Honours Degree in French and had done enough serious study to get started on her program.
"Well" says the Counsellor, "you will have to do a placement exam in French to see if you are up to University standard".
"When can I take it" asks Candy.
"Now if you wish".
Without hesitation (and without coming to me for advice), Candy said she was ready!
Yea ... yea... that meant that I had to spend another few hours at the University's admission's office while this test was done. The result? Passed so well that she was given admission to Second Year French studies!
Just imagine it .... in your First Year you are doing Second Year studies. It was only in her last year when she was asked to be an academic advisor, that she related her experience to that Division.
